Three former co-workers who have played the lottery together for more than 20 years took home a nice chunk of change recently.
According to a release from Saskatchewan Lotteries, on Jan. 3, Marcel Lacoursiere, Ron Thomson and Aaron Bond won one of 26 Maxmillions prizes of $1 million.
When Lacoursiere first checked his ticket, he knew it was a winner.
Originally, he thought they had won $10,000 but after checking with the lottery retailer, he realized they had won big.
The trio bought a Lotto Max quick pick, and matched the winning numbers exactly. Their ticket was eligible for draws from Oct. 22 to Jan. 14.
On top of the $1-million prize, the trio also won four free plays and $24 in small cash prizes.
All three winners say they’re hoping to share their win with their families, support charities important to them and put some away for the future.
