Environment Canada continues to warn people of extreme cold in parts of central and southern Saskatchewan.
The warnings are expected to be lifted as the temperature rises Saturday, according to lead forecaster Brad Vrolijk.
“The winds will be brisk out of the northwest through the morning but they should start to diminish midday and into the afternoon (Saturday),” he explained.
The reprieve from the deep freeze will be short-lived.
“We will likely see a return of the warnings (Saturday night),” Vrolijk said.
He expects some communities will have windchills dipping into the minus 40s again Saturday night, prompting the return of warnings.
“Mainly along and south of the Trans Canada Highway corridor but it might creep up into Kindersley toward North Battleford overnight,” Vrolijk explained.
