Robert Major is free on bail while he appeals his seven-year prison sentence in connection to a collision that killed his two sons and his girlfriend.
His lawyer, Brian Pfefferle, confirmed to 650 CKOM on Tuesday that Major was released pending his appeal, which is expected to be scheduled sometime in the new year.
In January a jury found Major guilty of dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing death and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
Major was driving a packed pick-up truck on Feb. 22, 2016, when it sped off Range Road 3083 and onto Highway 16 where it crashed into a semi.
Brenden Major, 4, Theodore Cardinal, 9, and Kimberly Oliverio, 26, were killed. Major’s 11-year-old nephew, five-year-old son and a friend were seriously hurt.
Following the sentencing, Pfefferle said he respected the verdict but believed there was room for an appeal.
