Saskatchewan fans reacted swiftly to the report from Farhan Lalji that Jason Maas got a call from the Roughriders to interview for the offensive co-ordinator position.
Maas definitely has been a personality that has rubbed fans the wrong way in his four years as the head coach in Edmonton.
Maas got a lot of air time on TSN throwing headsets, screaming at refs or knocking over Gatorade jugs and there was the live mic game incident when he made a mockery of a CFL initiative with TSN.
So you can understand why some fans wouldn’t want to see that type of rage added to the coaching staff.
But Maas isn’t being looked at as a head coach, it’s as an offensive co-ordinator.
TSN cameras won’t catch every curse, tirade or headset toss. And if he’s in the booth, all those things will be drastically increased.
You can’t deny that Maas has done some good things offensively during his time as an assistant and head coach.
My prediction would still be Maas goes to B.C., but there should be no surprise Saskatchewan is knocking on his door as the offence didn’t exactly wow and amaze down the stretch last season.
