The CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Friday they have signed defensive lineman Makana Henry to a contract extension.
Henry, who could have become a free agent in February, now is signed through the 2021 season.
The 6-foot-1, 275-pound defensive tackle dressed for 18 regular-season games with the Roughriders in 2019 and recorded 26 tackles and three sacks.
Henry, who played junior football with the Burlington Braves, has played four seasons with Saskatchewan.
The 32-year-old product of Caledon, Ont., has won the Roughriders’ Community Service Award in each of the past three seasons and was nominated for the CFL’s Tom Pate Award in those seasons as well.
He also was the Roughriders’ nominee in 2018 for the Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award, which is presented annually to the CFL player who best represents the traits of Canada’s soldiers.
