Are we now going to see an NHL awful-coach-moves trend?
The Mitch Marner work-ethic-list news broke about Mike Babcock shaming the rookie. The story has been starting to make its way around the rumour mill and it heated up when Babcock was fired.
A bad coaching move for sure. An awful display of peer pressure and a complete failure in trust.
Now former pro Akim Aliu is out with accusations directed at Flames coach Bill Peters in regard to Peters casual use of the ‘N’ word toward Aliu when he coached the Nigerian-born player in the AHL.
Everything comes in threes, so we’ll have to wait if anybody else has a grievance to file toward a coach’s misbehaviour.
Now let’s be clear. Babcock made a mistake and has already owned it and told TSN he did apologize to Marner.
The accusation toward Peters is far more egregious and the team has to investigate, as does the NHL. Aliu must know he could get sued if he can’t prove the accusation. Peters’ job is on the line if Aliu can.
