For all the supporters of Don Cherry, you can’t have it both ways.
A panelist on ‘The Social,’ Jessica Allen, dropped quite the stereotypes on hockey players during her rant on Cherry’s firing. Allen talked about hockey players as not very thoughtful and bullies and said their rich parents spend too much money on their kids to play the sport.
Trust me, I don’t agree with anything Allen had to say. Organized sports and other team-oriented activities are just as important as the classroom, if not more so, in the development of kids.
But now people who support Cherry ironically want her fired for her opinion.
Wait. You can’t say Cherry should keep his job for his opinion that you agree with and then in the same week say someone should be fired for an opinion you disagree with and still be taken seriously.
Now, if she kept saying inflammatory and disrespectful remarks that had her fall out of favour with the bosses and sponsors, she likely suffers the same fate as Cherry.
I’ll leave you with this thought. Could you imagine what Cherry would have said about her on Saturday night?
