Jerome Coulineur, the boy who was killed in a collision between a truck and an ambulance last week, was laid to rest Thursday in Canoe Lake.
Jans Bay Mayor Joyce Maurice said a wake was held for the boy over the past two days. Another wake is to be held Friday in Jans Bay for one-year-old Kinzey Iron-Couillonneur before her funeral is held Saturday in Canoe Lake.
“Right now, if anyone within the community needs any debriefing (or) counselling from the mental health workers out of le–la-Crosse, if we need any help, we’re supposed to get ahold of them,” Maurice said. “We are supporting the families in any which way we can.”
On Oct. 25, the two children, as well as Meadow Lake paramedic Leigh Schroeder, died after a collision on Highway 155 involving a truck and an ambulance south of Beauval.
Two other people in the truck and the other person in the ambulance, which was responding to another collision, were taken to hospital.
A memorial service for Schroeder is to take place Sunday in Regina .
As of Thursday, a GoFundMe page to raise money to assist with funeral costs and financial support for the families of the two children reached $3,725 of a $5,000 goal.
