A memorial service for the paramedic who died in last Friday’s two-vehicle accident south of Beauval is to be held Sunday in Regina.
Leigh Schroeder was 28 when he was killed in the collision between a truck and the ambulance in which Schroeder was riding. Two children in the other vehicle also died.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority said after the crash that the ambulance was responding to another call when it came into collision with the truck.
“Leigh died doing what he loved to do — serving others,” read his online obituary.
The obituary added that Schroeder had trained as a journeyman electrician before becoming a paramedic, and noted he was settling into the community of Meadow Lake.
Schroeder is survived by his parents, two brothers and numerous other relatives.
His family described him as “a devoted son, brother, and friend” who enjoyed camping, gaming with his brothers and working on his truck.
The memorial service is to take place at Living Hope Alliance Church, 3800 Green Falls Dr., starting at 2 p.m. A livestream of the service can be viewed Sunday on the Speers Funeral Chapel website.
