The Calgary Stampeders took control of the CFL’s West Division with a 30-28 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders at McMahon Stadium on Friday.
Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell completed 23 of his 29 pass attempts for 298 yards and two touchdowns. Mitchell threw one interception on the day, which was returned by Saskatchewan defensive back Nick Marshall for a touchdown.
Stampeders wide receiver Hergy Mayala caught both of Mitchell’s touchdown passes. The touchdowns were the first of Mayala’s CFL career.
Roughriders quarterback Cody Fajardo completed 20-of-32 attempts for a touchdown and an interception. Running back William Powell caught Fajardo’s only touchdown pass.
Saskatchewan kicker Brett Lauther was 2-for-3 on field goal attempts, missing on a 48-yarder.
Both teams sit at 10-5 but the Stampeders hold the tie-breaker by winning both games against the Green and White in 2019.
