Local tech company Vendasta is in the midst of a massive expansion, that will nearly double the number of employees at the company.
To accommodate this the company will be moving to the Saskatoon Square building on the corner of 4th Avenue and 22nd street in Saskatoon.
“We’re taking the top four floors there. I think that is about 38,500 square feet,” Said Brendan King, CEO of Vendasta.
The company plans to be fully moved into their new building by 2021.
When the move is complete they plan to change the name of the building from Saskatoon Square to Vendasta Square.
King says they are happy to be staying in Saskatoon, despite having offers to move to other cities. He also says they have big plans for their company here.
“We had a lot of folks looking to try to get us to move to different places, different provinces and even different cities. In Calgary there are a lot of attractive spaces but we really wanted to stay in Saskatoon,” said King.
“It’s the great people. The university here is fantastic. We’re working with the university, we’re working with the government, we’ve got great high quality talent and we think we can build a tech ecosystem right here in Saskatoon.”
The first 80 people will be moving to the new building in November with the rest moving over gradually as they get the space ready.
“It’s great that we found some space that we can grow into and keep our company together in one place. It means a lot for us,” said King.
“And we’re going to design the space in a really nice way. We’re going to have open concepts with neighbourhoods and have places for people to go and have privacy. So we are really looking forward to being in a new building.”
