The City of Saskatoon is warning people about a new phone scam with calls that appear to come from Saskatoon Light and Power’s main phone line.
In a media release, the city said several concerned residents had reached out about the aggressive messages they’d received.
The caller claims that people have to make a payment on an overdue account in an attempt to get banking and credit card information, according to the release.
Saskatoon Light and Power and the city do not request or collect that information over the phone, the release read.
If you receive a call you believe is fraudulent contact city customer service at 306-975-2400.
