We are nicely into the NHL exhibition season, and I can honestly say that between the Hockeyville game in the Maritimes and the regional games, I’ve seen enough.
I get this way every year at this time. I get that players are battling for spots and big decisions have to be made by each NHL team before the season starts on Oct. 2, but I have to ask: Is anyone else tuning in?
The arenas are packed. Fans have paid a fortune for season tickets, which includes the exhibition games. The games are on national and regional television because the networks have paid a fortune to televise the games.
I am a regular viewer of Saturday night hockey, and if I’m not in front of my television, I set my PVR — but not until next month. I have better things to watch and better things to do in this early fall season than sift through who may or may not be with a team in a month, and if the stars are on the ice during this exhibition season.
