Rob Bagg announced his official retirement on Tuesday, putting an end to 11 seasons in the Canadian Football League.
Bagg never eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in a season, but his career was still an important part of the Riders’ rise over a brilliant decade of football that saw them appear in three Grey Cups and winning one (it should have been two).
Bagg was mature beyond his years when he came to the league, earning a spot on the team as an undrafted free agent, only to take a pass to finish college. He’d earn his spot again in 2008.
Three ACL tears had many thinking Bagg’s career was over early. But the Kingston, Ont. native worked hard to fight back and earn his spot again on the team.
If the team had 45 players who worked and studied as hard as Bagg, they may never lose a game.
A consummate pro, a determined personality and an all-around great Rider.
The Plaza of Honour awaits his induction in the next couple of years.
