Expecting to clear out the usual traffic at a house party close the University of Saskatchewan campus, police instead arrived to find a crowd of more than 300 people filling the street.

Artem Doroshenko and his friends arrived at the party around 10:30 p.m. He said by that point, dozens of people were spilling out of the crammed house onto the street, lawn and other yards.
“It was packed — I’ve never been to anything packed like this,” Doroshenko said. “People were on the roof (and) started jumping. Someone, I think, broke their leg jumping off the roof, and someone did a backflip off the roof.”
The party was advertised on Facebook and Instagram to be widely available for anyone looking to party on Saturday.
Doroshenko tried to get inside the home at one point but said it was nearly impossible, due to the number of people already inside.
“People in the garage, you couldn’t move apparently. Everyone was stuck,” he said.
Outside was no better — traffic trying to get through the area was at a standstill as the crowd overtook Cumberland Avenue.
The party took a turn once police showed up to disperse the massive crowd. While many cleared out instantly, others stayed to see what would happen.
“Some people started yelling, ‘F*** you cops!’ ” Doroshenko said. “When everyone started yelling that, that’s when I left.”
Some people in the crowd also began throwing bottle and cans of beer at officers, according to a media release from Saskatoon police.
Officers were able to safely move groups of people away from the house, and had the area cleared in about an hour.
A 19-year-old man was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer during the clear out. He was taken to a detention cell.
Doroshenko said — without a doubt — it is the craziest party he has ever been to.
“It was pretty wild,” he said.
