The City of Saskatoon announced an update to its transit app on Thursday.
The newly branded Transit+ allows users to pre-book cab rides and ride sharing services based on bus routes.
Transit director Jim McDonald says this is a more convenient way to get around the city.
He also thinks it can help reduce the temptation to drive drunk. Specifically, it provides an alternative after bus service shuts down at 1 a.m.
“If you wanted to get out of downtown, where you’ve maybe had a couple of wobbly-pops, and you think ‘I can catch the bus, but I won’t be able to get from (the stop) to my house,'” he said.
“You can get on your bus… you can book the ride-hail from within the app, to get you that last mile, two miles.”
It can also combine bike rides and bus transit into one route.
