Wray Morrison: Be classy Blue Jays fans

Let me start with a sad reality. The actions of a few can represent a majority.

When American sports fans turn on their televisions and see one Blue Jays fan throw a beer can at someone such as Baltimore Orioles’ outfielder Hyun Soo Kim, those viewers come to a conclusion that Toronto’s baseball supporters are classless.

Sadly, there is a past history. Last year during the American League divisional series against Texas, a woman with a small child had to flee her seat close to the field to save herself and her child from debris.

The reputation of Toronto baseball fans being classless was there long before the Soo Kim incident. It appears as if the behaviour of a few isn’t going to change. The next time you believe that your baseball team, Canada’s biggest city or even your country is being disrespected by those south of the border regarding America’s past time, remember such incidents.

The actions of a few have given the accusations merit.
