You’ll soon be seeing double while driving between Delisle and Vanscoy.
The province announced Thursday crews have started work on twinning a 10-kilometre stretch of Highway 7 between the two communities southwest of Saskatoon.
Work will include the realignment of rural municipality roads, two new railway crossings, the movement of 570,000 cubic metres of dirt and the installation of 51 new culverts.
It’s part of a larger project to twin Highway 7 all the way from Saskatoon to Delisle.
According to the province, traffic along the 40-kilometre stretch has increased from 5,000 to 9,100 vehicles per day in the last decade.
Newly twinned lanes between Saskatoon and Vanscoy were opened to traffic last fall, thereby completing the first phase of the project.
Highway 7 connects drivers travelling from Saskatoon to places like Kindersley, Rosetown and Calgary.
Drivers are reminded to slow to 60 km/h when passing highway workers and equipment, and to observe the posted speed limits in construction zones.
