Jeremy O’Day is at it again with the latest trade for Kenny Stafford from the Eskimos.
The first-year, full-time general manager of the Roughriders traded away Christion Jones, who seems to have lost a burst and definitely lost his spot on the roster for Stafford, who could have a career year in catches and yards.
The veteran presence helps the Riders, especially in a week they may be without Shaq Evans.
Stafford knows the offence, having worked with Stephen McAdoo in Edmonton, and has already been making plays this season with two touchdowns with the Eskimos through seven games.
O’Day got quality depth by giving away a player that was doing nothing and had lost his return duties to Louchiez Purifoy, Marcus Thigpen and Kyran Moore.
The man we all knew was ready to take the reins of a team is showing the rest of the CFL they should have paid closer attention when they interviewed him for their own G.M. openings.
The Riders should be relieved they still had their chance to promote him before another team scooped him up.
