Six days of rides, games, entertainment and food begins today as the Saskatoon exibition comes to town.
The annual summer fair begins at 10 a.m. with the parade through downtown.
The parade will make a loop, around 24th Street, 4th Avenue, 20th Street, and Spadina Crescent.
Police are advising drivers to stay away from the parade route and follow parking restrictions to avoid any delays and being towed or ticketed.
In addition to the parade route itself, Spadina Crescent will be closed from 24th Street to 33rd Street in order to allow floats and participants to stage.
The parade is expected to take an hour and has 100 entries.
Midway opens at noon
The rides and games at Prairieland Park this year have travelled all over North America, starting in Miami, Florida in March.
“We have a stable route that goes from spot to spot. It’s great,” said Scooter Korek with North American Midway Entertainment.
“It’s been the same route we’ve been on for many, many years and developed a lot of friendships along the way.”
With little time between each city they visit, Korek said they have perfected the travelling operation.
The entire midway can be set up and operational in half a day, said Korek.
Entertainment
In addition to the rides and food is the entertainment each night on the grandstand.
Sum 41, Simple Plan, The Glorious Sons, Chad Brownlee and Trooper take the stage at 8:30 p.m. on their respective nights.
The EX is open each day from 12 p.m. to midnight.
Admission is $16 for adults per day, $12 for youth (11-14), and $10 for children six to 10 years old. Children aged six and under are free.
