Warning to all Riders fans. A win on Saturday, albeit nice to see the team win two-straight games, should not be met with extreme belief that this team has somehow turned a corner in the season.
They deserve the accolades of going up against a desperate opponent and in a historically tough place to play for the Riders, but by no means does winning twice over the B.C. Lions mean the Riders are putting themselves into contender status.
The Riders will then have a short week to prepare for a tough opponent when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats come to town. That will be a far tougher test and the last time they had that scenario, they got pummelled by Calgary 37-10. Oh and Calgary didn’t have Bo Levi Mitchell at quarterback.
This week’s game ends the first third of the season and at potentially 3-3, is a decent start.
The next third of the season when they play Hamilton, an improved Montreal team twice and Winnipeg twice will give us a much better indication if the Riders should expect to book travel in November.
