After a day of severe weather warnings and watches across many areas of the province, the rain, wind and hail hit many of those areas Thursday afternoon and evening.
The storm arrived in Saskatoon around 5:45 p.m. Among the heavy rain was a plough wind gusting over 85 km/h topple over trees, damaged power lines, and sent people’s belongings flying.
In Sutherland, the roof at EFL Flooring was ripped off in nearly one piece, opening the business up to the elements. One man leaving work for the day was nearly crushed by the roof as it crashed down in the parking lot.
During the storm. the Taste of Saskatchewan food festival ordered a temporary evacuation of their site at Kinsmen Memorial Park, marking the first time in 24 years the festival had to evacuate. It reopened a short time later.
