When Rob O’Connor began planning the first Ag in Motion, he never dreamed the agriculture showcase would become what it has today.
“I’m actually quite amazed how quickly this show has grown over the past five years,” said O’Connor.
The number of exhibitors this year is 552, more than double from the roughly 200 in the show’s inagural year.
The show now takes up 640 acres of space, west of Langham along Highway 16.
All of that useable space is utilized for the equipment displays, crop plots and demonstrations, said O’Connor.
“We have over 100 acres dedicated just for test driving or watching demonstrations,” he said.
“I think that’s really unique in the fact that farmers can compare different products to see what works for their operation.”
The event has become known as the province’s pop-up city with an estimated 30,000 visitors attending the three-day event.
O’Connor said it takes about 200 staff to run the show and they continue to invest in permanent buildings and roads to improve the experience.
While the show’s growth has been strong, O’Connor said there’s no plans yet to extend the event.
“We’ll let the industry tell us what we need to do there. We’ll just see what happens in the next year or two.”
The gates open at 8:30 a.m. each day, and close at 4:30 p.m.
