A 32-year-old man has been charged in connection with a two-vehicle crash near Warman in December that claimed the life of an 11-year-old girl.
Anthony McClelland faces nine charges, including operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, driving with a blood-alcohol concentration that exceeds .08, impaired operation causing bodily harm, and impaired driving causing death.
McClelland made his first court appearance on Wednesday in Saskatoon Provincial Court. He’s scheduled to return to court Aug. 7.
In a media release, the Warman RCMP said the collision occurred Dec. 21 at approximately 6:40 p.m. Officers responded to a head-on collision between two pickup trucks on Highway 305 near Warman.
There were three occupants in one of the trucks. Two of them were transported to hospital for treatment while the 11-year-old girl died at the scene.
The male driver of the other truck was taken to hospital for treatment.
