A 29-year-old man is facing charges, including abduction, after allegedly trying to snatch a baby from a Saskatoon apartment early Tuesday.
Police responded to a disturbance call around 2 a.m. at a building on the 700 block of Appleby Drive.
According to police, the suspect, who was high on methamphetamine, was in the suite with two other people when he allegedly fled with the infant.
One person from the suite chased him and managed to get the child back.
The suspect then returned to the building where he gained access to a different suite and allegedly threatened residents with a knife.
He then tried accessing other suites in the hallway before leaving the building.
Officers located the suspect nearby, injured and bleeding and acting in an aggressive manner.
Police used pepper spray, but needed help from more officers to arrest him.
He was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries before going to hospital.
In addition to abduction, he faces charges of uttering threats, resisting arrest and breach of a probation order.
