OAKLAND, Calif. — The Toronto Raptors have won their first NBA title in franchise history.
Toronto beat the two-time defending champion Golden State Warriors 114-110 in Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night at Oracle Arena.
It was the third road win for Toronto in the best-of-seven series. It also was the fifth consecutive win for the road team in the series.
The Raptors become the first team from outside the United States to win the NBA title.
It marks the first championship for a Canadian team in one of the big four North American pro sports leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL) since the Toronto Blue Jays won the World Series in 1993.
More to come.
