Customers at a Saskatoon bar took down an alleged armed robber over the weekend.
In a media release issued late Monday morning, Saskatoon police said patrons were standing outside a bar in the 2300 block of Preston Avenue around 2 a.m. Saturday when a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer pulled up.
Police said a man got out of the passenger side of the vehicle and pointed a gun at the group while demanding money.
None of the people standing outside the bar reacted to the weapon being pointed at them, according to police.
The suspect then reportedly tried to walk back towards the waiting Trailbazer, at which point the group of customers took his gun away and held him until police arrived at the scene.
Officers arrested the man and reportedly seized a sawed-off rifle. The 23-year-old suspect is facing charges of armed robbery as well as various weapons offences.
The driver of the Trailblazer fled the scene. Police asked anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
