Yellow police tape surrounded a house on Montreal Street where a man was found dead early Thursday morning.
Police officers and EMS were called to the home just off Saskatchewan Drive at 6:25 a.m. When they arrived on the scene, EMS confirmed the man was dead.
Members of the Regina Police Service major crimes unit were on scene along with the provincial coroner.
Across the street, Daryl Holmes watched from his front yard as forensic investigators draped in baby blue suits took pictures and combed through the crime scene.
“I woke up this morning and there was police everywhere. The house was taped off, I was told someone was dead,” said Holmes as he held his young daughter in his arms.
The single father of three was paying particular interest to whatever happened at the house out of safety for his family.
“This neighbourhood is starting to be like North Central. Nothing surprises me anymore,” said Holmes, who used to live in that area.
He added Thursday’s crime was the last straw.
“I’m moving at the end of the month with my kids. They don’t need to see this crap anymore.”
Investigators are still working to identify the man and determine the cause and circumstances of his death.
