A 35-year-old Saskatoon man is facing charges after allegedly evading police in a stolen sports car Saturday night.
According to a media release, officers received a call around 9 p.m. about an erratic motorist in a stolen Audi TT, driving around Stonebridge Common and Hartley Road.
To help stop the man, police say they successfully deployed a spike belt at Highway 11 and Grasswood Road.
The Air Support Unit eventually spotted the vehicle in a ditch near Floral Road and Range Road 3045, where the sports car caught fire.
From there, police say the man — and only person inside the vehicle — fled to a nearby farm yard.
Police dogs eventually sniffed the man out and he was arrested without incident.
The 35-year-old is now facing charges for breach of recognizance, along with possessing stolen property over $5,000, driving dangerously and evading police.
The man is set to appear before a Justice of the Peace Sunday.
