We didn’t break any warm weather records on Wednesday in Saskatoon, but it was definitely a day to get out and enjoy.
People were making the most of the warmth and sunshine down along the riverbank.
As the temperature soared into the 30 C range, there was a strong, steady breeze that topped out in the mid-50-kilometre-per-hour range.
If that wasn’t enough to keep people cool, the “Red Bus,” across the street from the Delta Bessborough, was also an option for those craving ice cream or a milkshake.
“Considering the winter we had, the month of February was disgusting. I’ll take the warm weather,” one woman said as she sipped on a cold beverage. “Winter is only six months away, (so) enjoy it while you can.”
“Just think back to the winter we had,” said another man.
By late afternoon, the temperature had peaked at 31 C. The record for Saskatoon for May 29 was 35 C, set in 1986.
The City of Saskatoon will open spray pads on Saturday.
