A teenaged girl has been arrested in connection with the beating of a 33-year-old mother in Pleasant Hill Park on Monday night.
Saskatoon police said in a release Friday that they had arrested a 13-year-old girl and charged her with two counts of assault.
One charge stems from the incident in Pleasant Hill, where Bonnie Halcrow was swarmed by a group of children who delivered kicks and punches to her while she was down on the ground.
The incident was filmed by an unnamed bystander.
Police noted they’ve identified several of the other kids involved in the attack, but they aren’t being charged because they’re under 12 years old.
The teenaged girl’s second assault charge is in connection with another apparent swarming incident at the park a week before the filmed incident, where two girls aged 10 and 14 were attacked around 7 p.m. on May 13.
The girl is not being named due to protections under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. She appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Friday morning.
