It’s not exactly curling weather, but some big names are in Saskatoon looking to cash in.
The season finale of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling starts Tuesday at Merlis Belsher Place at the University of Saskatchewan.
Fifteen men’s teams and fifteen women’s teams are competing in the Humpty’s Champions Cup. Both divisions are split into three groups for round-robin play with the top eight advancing to the playoffs.
The teams play for a $250,000 combined prize money. The winning teams on both the the men’s and women’s side earn $40,000 each.
North Battleford’s Robyn Silvernagle and Saskatoon’s Kirk Muyres are in the field. Some other big names include Jennifer Jones, Rachel Homan, Chelsea Carey, Kevin Koe, Brad Jacobs and Brad Gushue.
The tournament runs from April 23-28.
