Every girl should feel like a princess for a day.
At least, that’s what the organizers of the 12th annual Glass Slipper Benefit for Princesses think.
The gala taking place on Wednesday is the main fundraiser for The Princess Shop, a non-profit organization looking to enhance the graduation experience for girls in need.
Organizers say it rivals any graduation day that many of us remember.
“We are able to provide a whole experience when you come to our shop,”gala co-ordinator Colleen Shalley said.
“We can provide you with a dress and the entire package that goes along with that. So there’s photography, and you get your hair and makeup done, a limo ride and you also get all the jewelry and shoes as well.”
The organization accepts new and used dresses to limit one of the largest cost barriers for girls on graduation day.
Year-round mentorship programs, along with with support and tools for growth beyond graduation are just a few of the ways the Princess Shop has expanded over the years.
More than 1,000 girls have had help getting their dream grad since the Princess Shop started operations. Shalley said hearing the testimonials each and every year keeps her coming back.
“To see and here the stories that come from the organization that I volunteer with is a pretty special thing.”
