Saskatoon police are releasing more information as an investigation into an arrest involving a taser continues.
In an update released Wednesday afternoon, police said officers used a taser twice while trying to subdue a shoplifting suspect who threatened them with a needle earlier this month.
The taser did not prove effective, according to police.
The suspect, a 43-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he tried to escape custody and got into a fight with officers, police said in Wednesday’s update.
Following the man’s release from hospital he was entered into Provincial Corrections’ custody.
Now police are asking people who may have seen the first altercation to contact them.
Police said officers’ first interaction with the man happened around 1:15 p.m. on April 2 at Confederation Mall.
