8:30 – While the allegations of political interference in the criminal case of SNC-Lavalin are front and centre in the news lately, similar allegations of interference by the PMO are dogging the trial of Vice-Admiral Mark Norman, who’s accused of leaking cabinet secrets regarding naval procurement. Norman’s lawyers believe that the Privy Council was discussing trial strategy with Crown prosecutors, and they’re trying to get a number of memos from the privy council to demonstrate abuse of process. They especially want a 60-page memo Michael Wernick sent to Trudeau, which was completely blacked out during the redaction process. National Post reporter Brian Platt was at the hearing Thursday, and he joins John to give the latest details.

11:00 – Michael Linklater, one of the world’s best 3-on-3 basketball players, is returning to his roots as a new member of the Saskatchewan Rattlers. Linklater was born in New Jersey but moved to Saskatoon at age 10 where he learned how to play ball. A celebrated athlete, he’s played for Team Canada, the U of S Huskies, and the Mount Royal Collegiate Mustangs, and received the 2018 Tom Longboat Award, which recognizes Indigenous athletes for outstanding contributions to sport in Canada. Linklater joins John to discuss the latest chapter in his career as part of the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

12:00 – Businessman and Canadian energy advocate Chris Sublicki will be the keynote speaker at a Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce event April 3 called “Energy Experts Fuel for Thought.” In his previous talks, he’s spoken about the “uncomfortable reality” of balancing Canada’s energy and resource sectors against our environmental goals, saying Canada can be an energy leader if we stand up for our industries. Sublicki joins John now to discuss the current issues faced by Canada’s energy sector.
