Glen Walter feels he dodged a bullet after walking away with a few bruises following a highway crash Friday afternoon.
“We’re all fortunate,” he said. “After the collision, I was stunned for a bit — then I got out and nothing was broken on me.”
Walter was one of three vehicles that collided on Highway 11, near Dundurn, at the intersection of Highway 211. STARS Air Ambulance attended to the scene and airlifted one person to hospital.
According to Mounties an SUV crossing Highway 11 collided with two southbound vehicles.
“I saw the woman coming with her SUV — she just went straight through the stop sign, crossed the first set of highway and never slowed down,” Walter said.
RCMP said Saturday afternoon they were still investigating the cause.
The crash came just hours after Provincial Court Judge Inez Cardinal made a plea in her sentencing decision for the truck driver involved in the Humboldt Broncos tragedy that the “carnage on our highways” needs to stop.
“I’ve had a lot of close calls over my life. This is the first time I’ve had a major collision at these speeds,” Walter said.
Walter added the three people involved, including himself, were released from hospital Friday evening.
