Rachel Wood celebrated a big milestone in Saskatoon.
She turned 100 years old on Thursday.
Wood said at her birthday celebration that she feels the same way she did in her younger years.
“I feel no different,” she said. “It’s the same thing.”
Family and friends helped her celebrate the occasion at the Strensrud Lodge residences by sharing stories and snapping photos.
Warren Wood said his grandma inspires him.
“We are very proud of her, she is a wonderful human,” he said. “Her spirit is living today and her whole family feels it.”
He said his favourite memory of his grandma was when he was 15 years old and they ran out of gas on the Trans-Canada Highway on the way to Expo ’86.
“She decided to lift her pant leg and show skin to try and get someone to stop,” he said. “That is a sight to be seen when you are 15 and your grandmother tries to solicit someone to take them to the next town.”
And he also explained if she was successful.
“It did actually work,” he said. “She was a hot lady.”
The occasion was capped off with a group photo before eating chicken, corn, fries and salad from Kentucky Fried Chicken.
