The Queen City Ex (QCX) kicks off Wednesday with new rides and fan favourite foods like mini donuts.
But there are also new items to try like the Big Pickle Dog.
“We core out the middle of a pickle, put the wiener in and batter it and it is amazing,” explained Scott Dennis, owner of Salt Spring concessions. “People love it, we usually have a crew of about three or four people coring out the pickle and doing all the sticking, so it is a process, yes.”
There are also some new rides being featured this year at QCX. One is for the families, the Charlie Chopper, which is fashioned after a helicopter.
“The good part of this ride is that you can ride with mom and dad on this ride, so it is good for the whole family to experience,” said Scooter Korek, vice-president of North American Midway Entertainment.
The other ride is similar to the old Polar Express, which was loved in the 1980’s.
QCX starts with the parade tonight, Aug. 2, along Broad Street and Dewdney Avenue.
