8:30 – Treasury Board President Jane Philpott resigned from Justin Trudeau’s cabinet Monday, following Jody Wilson-Raybould in the wake of the SNC-Lavalin scandal. In her letter of resignation, Philpott said a cabinet minister must be prepared to publicly defend all actions taken by cabinet and “given this convention and the current circumstances, it is untenable for me to continue to serve as a cabinet minister.” To discuss the major loss for Trudeau’s cabinet, John is joined by David Akin, chief political correspondent for Global News.
