8:30 – Almost exactly three years after four people were killed in a shooting in the northern community of La Loche, the school where much of the violence took place is set for an big day. Early this afternoon the Dene High School will hold a ceremony unveiling their renovations to the school’s entrance and honouring the victims who were killed or injured with a moment of silence and poetry readings. Family members of the victims are expected to attend the emotional event and La Loche Mayor Robert St. Pierre, who attended the school himself, joins John now to discuss community’s journey towards healing.

11:00 – A Regina mom has raised concerns over the curriculums in the local public school system. She says she transferred her daughter out of Regina’s Marion McVeety Elementary to another school due to the curriculum, which included what she calls “social justice topics” on power structures and ideas far too advanced for a five-year-old. She says her daughter was being taught about residential schools while she was too young to understand even the basic concepts, and her son’s second-grade curriculum included discussions of “white privilege.” She joins John now to discuss the issues she’s run into with her kids’ education.
