For twelve hours on Friday, listeners of Rock 102 called in and requested all kinds of music for a good cause.
During Pay for Play, hosts Gary and Shack would play any song a listener requested in exchange for a donation to the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
Requests included You’ve Got a Friend in Me from the Toy Story soundtrack, the Log Drivers Waltz and Tequila by the Champs.
Around 100 songs were played during Friday’s fundraiser to bring in more than $16,500.
It’s part of Rock 102’s annual Stuff the Bus campaign with proceeds matched by Nutrien.
On Dec. 13 the campaign continues at Saskatoon Co-op at Centre Mall from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Food donations will be stuffed into a bus to help the food bank get through the busy holiday season.
