Saskatoon police are asking the public for help finding a suspect alleged to have dragged a city police officer while attempting to flee in a stolen vehicle.
Police were called around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday with a report of a stolen pickup truck at a gas station on the 1600 block of Idylwyld Drive North.
Officers arrived and asked the occupant of the truck to get out. When he refused, one of the responding officers tried to detain him.
After a brief scuffle, the man reportedly drove off, dragging one of the officers behind the truck before heading north on Idylwyld Drive.
Paramedics treated the officer who got dragged at the scene for what were described as minor injuries.
A police media release described the pickup truck involved in the incident as a grey 2002 GMC Sierra extended cab, possibly still with a Saskatchewan licence plate reading 039 IIE. The truck reportedly has aftermarket taillights and a chrome pushbar on the front.
Anyone with information was asked to call Saskatoon police at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
