Wray Morrison: The Classy Travis Lulay

There are many quarterbacks in the CFL, past and present, that could take a lesson in class and leadership from Lions pivot Travis Lulay.

On Tuesday Lulay patiently answered questions about a separated shoulder that will keep him out of the line up for weeks.

Even during the challenging times of losses and injury, Lulay seems to understand a basic principle; athletes communicate with their fans through the media.

It’s not a difficult concept but one that, for some reason, some players seem to have trouble understanding.

Through the media, Lulay provided insight to the fans on the hit that knocked him out and the recovery time leading up to a return.

To not be defensive, sensitive or condescending about losses and injuries toward the fans, showed signs of leadership.

Lulay is one of a handful of quarterbacks in the CFL that illustrate class and dignity in good times and in bad.

It’s easy to be a fan of players like that.
