Unfortunately you will hear about — or read about — me for the next 60 seconds.
It’s self serving, I know.
I found myself comparing hockey to comfort food on Monday night. I will be the first to admit that I am probably more passionate about Canadian football as opposed to other sports, but for some reason I was glued to the Jets/Wild NHL exhibition game from Winnipeg on Monday night.
These are teams I’m indifferent to. It was actually a good game. Stars like Niederreiter, Folingo, Laine and Byfuglien were on the ice. There were also some players trying to make an impression, as there always is
at this time of year.
Joe Morrow broke a 1-1 tie mid-way through the third period. It’s the funny thing about hockey in these parts, where the winters are long and days are short. We take comfort in having it on our television,
because we grew up with it.
No matter who is playing and no matter how busy we get, it’s just good to know it’s there in the cold months ahead.
Scores and teams don’t always matter.
