Tenille Lafontaine was so angered by what she was reading online she couldn’t stay silent.
Lafontaine, author of the Feisty Frugal and Fabulous blog posted to Facebook Monday to counter the hateful comments directed at Emma O’Keeffe’s mother.
Six-year-old Emma, who suffers from autism and epilepsy, was left in a running vehicle with the doors unlocked while her mom ran into a business Sunday night.
“They’re using the word ‘”lazy.'” “I hope the next time this mother won’t be so lazy,” said Lafontaine paraphrasing one of the comments posted online.
Lafontaine said the treatment is unfair, adding the judgment and criticism belongs on the thief, not the mother.
“I’m a mom and I’ve done it.”
“When you’re parenting you do what works for you in the moment, and sometimes we make mistakes.”
The post has been shared more than 1,900 times. Lafontaine said she hoped the post would reach the family to let them know the vast majority of people support them.
