Today, I come to the defence of Johnny Manziel.
Much is being made of Manziel’s comments from Thursday where he openly wondered why he isn’t starting for the Alouettes against B.C. on Friday.
There is a simple answer to that question. Montreal needs wins, and Antonio Pipken has won two in a row as the starting quarterback.
However, we still don’t really know what kind of quarterback of Manziel is.
When Manziel did get in with Montreal, the surrounding cast was very weak. The “ultimate team game” needs every member on board.
That wasn’t happening when he played. Then he got hurt.
Secondly, every great athlete wants the ball. You never want to hear a quarterback aspire to be a back up. Manziel, like every other quarterback, was to start.
Antonio Pipken should start. Johnny Manziel should want to play.
