Rosetown RCMP have ended the investigation into a deadly crash on Highway 4, which claimed the lives of six people Canada Day weekend.
The head-on crash happened north of Elrose around 4:30 p.m. on June 29.
In an update Tuesday, RCMP said investigators have determined the northbound SUV — driven by 71-year-old Carolynne Gould — crossed over into the southbound lane of Highway 4.
Gould, a retired teacher from Swift Current, was on her way to meet family at a cabin in Meadow Lake that Friday afternoon.
RCMP said her vehicle collided head-on with another SUV, carrying a family of five — Troy and Carissa Gasper, along with their three young children, from Rosetown.
All six people died in the crash.
Investigators said they were unable to determine the reason why Gould’s SUV crossed into oncoming traffic with absolute certainty.
They were, however, able to rule out alcohol as a factor.
