It’s pretty early to be talking about winter in Saskatchewan, but some residents got a small taste of what’s to come.
Environment Canada confirmed several areas of the province got frost Wednesday morning.
Saskatoon briefly dipped below the freezing mark at -0.5 C, while Regina hit -2.2 C.
People in Prince Albert really felt the chill as the city experienced freezing temperatures for a eight-hour period from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. At one point the mercury dipped to -3.9 C.
Broadview challenged for the coldest temperature in the province hitting -3.6 C.
Meteorologist Dave Baggaley said we can expect a return to normal highs this afternoon, but gardeners will want to cover up their plants before going to bed Wednesday evening.
“For the tonight period, we’re still looking for a risk of frost, but it will be more on the positive side of temperatures overnight.”
Baggaley said while overnight temperatures are well below normal, it’s not unheard of for this time of year.
