I may be missing something.
I know what you are thinking (It’s not the first time).
There has been a lot of discussion about Matt Nichols’ post game comments following Winnipeg’s Saturday night loss to Calgary. Some, including TSN’s Milt Stegall, are of the mind that the Bombers quarterback threw his receivers under the bus when he said this to CJOB’s Bob Irving:
“I’m going through four and five reads and finding no one open,” he said. “We didn’t do a good enough job in getting some chunk plays as an offense.”
I don’t think Nichols meant anything by the comments other than Calgary, an 8-1 team, gave Winnipeg all it could handle.
I won’t deny it. In the media, we like the money clip. We like out of the ordinary. We, at times, like to dissect controversy.
These statements — which are getting a lot of play — lack any of that.
This is a case of some media members “piling on.”
