After Thursday night’s BC win over Edmonton, I would be nervous if I was a Saskatchewan Roughrider fan.
The Lions are now tied with the Riders for what may amount to be the final crossover position in the CFL’s west division. British Columbia and Saskatchewan are both 3-4.
Unlike the Riders, the Lions have defeated western opponents this season. BC has beaten both Winnipeg and Edmonton. Prior to Thursday’s victory over Edmonton, Travis Lulay battled hard in just a nine-point loss to undefeated Calgary. The 2011 Grey Cup MVP may be finding his game.
The Rider nation also needs to consider the schedule. BC has three eastern opponents in the next four games, with the fourth being against the Green and White. On August 19 the Riders play the first of four games against tougher western opponents.
The Lions are 0-4 on the road, something that they will have to rectify. If they do, the Riders will have to elevate their game following this weekend’s bye.
